Welcome to Balara Manor, a grand Bahamian estate home featuring 5 bedrooms, 4 baths, great room, parlor, and a library with a futon. Originally built half a century ago from traditional quarried stone, Balara Manor has been remodeled with updated kitchen and baths.
Balara Manor is generously proportioned with 4000 square feet of living space. Enter the house through a large sunlit parlor with spectacular views of the Caribbean. This room includes a breakfast area, also with ocean views. Past the parlor is the great room with a formal dining area and a media area with a large flat screen TV. This room also looks out on the Caribbean through a wall of windows. The modern, fully equipped kitchen is connected to the great room. . The two master bedroom suites, one king and one queen, are on opposite ends of the house for privacy. Each has an en-suite bathroom.
Two more bedrooms (one queen and one double) are located in the middle of the house and share a bath. The fifth bedroom is furnished with two twin beds and has a private bath. Pass through this room to the library which has a futon that can sleep two more guests.
There are also two inflatable beds that can be placed in any bedroom. Rates are for the first 6 guests. Add $200 per week for each additional guest.
Enter the estate via a 350-foot-long driveway. Balara Manor's two private acres are landscaped with many varieties of palm trees and flowering shrubs and plants. Depending on time of the year, the large garden can provide you with an excellent selection of fresh vegetables and herbs.
The oceanfront gazebo offers many hours of shade from the tropical Bahamian sun. Walk down the 20' wide Roman-style steps into the warm, sandy-bottomed turquoise waters ideal for swimming, snorkeling, or bone fishing. You can watch the bonefish, along with many other species of fish, swim past the gazebo. We have seen everything from stingrays to dolphins swimming in the bay. For those who like to watch from a closer vantage point, we have three kayaks for your enjoyment.
A 10 minute walk will bring you across the island to the Atlantic side of the island. This will give you miles of pink sand to walk and explore.
